Boise Branding Photographer for Law Firms | Dempsey Foster Photoshoot
I was so excited when the women from Dempsey Foster reached out for a second branding photoshoot. I had a blast working with them the first time, and I knew that this second photoshoot would just be more of the same.
We talked through the scope of the project and they wanted to do updated headshots as well as lifestyle photos at their newly remodeled office on State Street in Downtown Boise. At first we talked about photos of just the remodeled office, but I pitched them on the idea of adding a person or people into the photos.
I believe we’re wired for relationship and I think a great photo only gets better when you add a person into it.
They were in.
Then I thought about how we could make the photos even more interested and asked them what they thought about adding some motion blur into the photos, where we slightly blurred the person in the photos to show movement and motion (using a specific photography technique).
They were also in.
Here’s what those motion photos look like, I really love how they came out and I really appreciate the Dempsey Foster gals trusting me with this idea.
For their updated headshots we decided to do them in studio in downtown Boise, at Boise Urban Studio, which is walking distance from the Dempsey Foster office, so it worked out great. I love the light and space in Boise Urban Studio and I notice my clients always really love being in that space and the images we create there.
Part of what I love is being able to give a totally different look to images within a single photoshoot, so lately I’ve found myself oftentimes spending a portion of each photoshoot in studio and then a portion of it on location and this creates a stronger and more varied collection of images for my clients. I was really happy with how these headshots came out.
And we also did a couple of photos of the partners Jennifer and Alyson together as part of the refresh for their branding photos.
And I had to include this one of Jen and Alyson laughing because if you know them, they are so hilarious and fun, that’s part of why I knew this would be such a fun photoshoot and I was so excited about it.
I’ve been doing what’s called tethering lately on photoshoots in studio, and all that means is that I’m connecting my camera directly to my computer, and letting clients review images on the spot. I find my clients love being able to see results on the spot and in the moment and it helps assure them that we’re creating images that they’re excited about. Here’s a couple behind the scenes shots of my tethering setup in studio, you can see I run a physical (and bright orange, so you don’t trip on it!) cable between my Macbook Pro and camera.
We also needed to do a few lifestyle images around the Dempsey Foster office. They have a beautiful office in a historic building in downtown Boise (right across from the capital) and they did a remodel which added new signage and artwork to the space which looks so good.
I’ve spent two days now working with the Dempsey Foster team and I can say that they’re so awesome. I can tell that their work means a lot to them and that they care deeply about their clients and what they’re doing in the world. I was sincerely so excited when they reached out to me about this second photoshoot, because I had so much fun the first time.
I really love the community we have in Boise, and people like the Dempsey Foster team are the exact reason why.
